To celebrate 100 years of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) formed on 18th October 1922. The Royal Mint have released this 50p, with reverse designed by the artist Henry Gray, paying tribute to the BBC’s far-reaching global influence.
The 50pence carries the last portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Jody Clark on the obverse. The Royal Mint state that this coin was already due for release before the sad passing of Her Majesty The Queen, and in accordance with King Charles III wishes for a more sustainable world, they have chosen not to remanufacturer the coin or packaging.
