GRAHAM EDWARD
ALFRED KENTFIELD
(1991-1998)
(The 28th Chief Cashier)
Graham Kentfield was born on 3rd September 1940.
He was educated at Bancroft’s School, Essex (as was Kenneth Peppiatt)
and at St Edmund Hall, Oxford where he read classics. He joined the
Bank in 1963 and worked in the Economics Division (including a spell
as Editor of the Bank’s Quarterly Bulletin) and in the International
Division. He was in the Financial Statistics Division from 1980-84
when he joined the Banking Department. In 1985 he became Deputy Chief
Cashier and was appointed Chief Cashier from 25th November 1991. He
retired on 31st December 1998.
From 1990 certain first and last prefixes were
made available by Debden Securitv Printing (DSP) in presentation packs
(see page 218 if English paper money). Collectors should also be aware that earlier and/or later
alphabetical prefixes were sometimes printed for general circulation.
